Chiropractic Care at Back Mountain Backs

Here at Back Mountain Backs, we know that deciding to begin chiropractic treatment can be a momentous decision. Our practice is dedicated to giving our patients the resources and counseling that will enable them to make educated decisions about their chiropractic care. Although nothing can be more helpful than an in-person consultation with Dr. Morris or Dr. Miller, we have provided some preliminary information that should help with any decisions you might make regarding chiropractic treatment.

Choosing A Chiropractor

When considering chiropractic care, it is important that you choose a chiropractor with the right credentials and experience. During your search for the right chiropractor, you should take several factors into account, including:

Experience: Look at patient testimonials, ask for references of patients that had been treated for similar conditions. Ask if the chiropractor is willing to coordinate your care with your primary care doctor and other specialists.

Certifications: Many chiropractors go on to do post graduate training and specialize in certain neuromusculoskeletal conditions, techniques and treatments. If you see letters after a doctors name and don’t know what they stand for, ASK!

Your First Visit

Before you arrive When you call for an appointment, the front desk receptionist or office manager will ask for general information to begin your file. It will be helpful to have your insurance card available. We reserve special times for new patients and will accommodate you within 24 hours if you’re in urgent need.

You may be asked to arrive 10 minutes early to complete paperwork. We can email or fax this to you ahead of time if you prefer. Please bring any recent lab work, diagnostic testing or imaging results with you. Your first appointment will take about 45 minutes.

Examination

Our doctors will provide a thorough and focused examination, appropriate for your condition. This will include physical, orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic assessment. Your posture, strength, range of motion and general health will all be evaluated.

Your treatment is prescribed after a diagnosis is well established, explained, and understood. Tests such as X-ray, MRI, and blood-work will be ordered, if necessary. If your condition warrants co-management, or is better treated by a different specialist, the appropriate referral will be made.

Treatment

A thorough explanation of your condition and treatment plan will be provided. The selection of various chiropractic, massage, and therapies will be prescribed based upon your individual condition and personal goals. Only the most gentle chiropractic techniques necessary to get you well are prescribed, to ensure your comfort.

For a few patients, the initial examination and treatment will cause mild soreness or discomfort, similar to exercise-induced soreness. For many patients, relief and/or improved mobility is found after the first treatment. This varies person to person, similar to beginning a new exercise program. A cool pack on a sore muscle will make it feel better.

Before you Leave

At the end of your treatment, we will discuss your insurance and payment options.

Although not required, pre-payment of co-pays for multiple treatment regimens is recommended to simplify your visits and save time.

Between Your Appointments

Compliance with work and exercise restrictions, postural modifications and stretches will help speed your road to recovery. If you miss an appointment, you’ll need to make it up to make sure you get well on time. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the office; our doctors can be reached 24/7 by cell or email.
